maurene-collageWe’re thrilled with this monthly series — What’s On Your TBR Pile? — with some of our favorite authors! TBR is “to be read” and we all have stacks we know we can’t read in our lifetime. But, with a little help from our favorite authors, we can refine or (goodness) add to our piles! Today we hear from YA author Maurene Goo (whose love of K-Drama is well known!). Wonder what she’s read and loved lately? Join us!

The way it works: We’ll spend some time with Maurene hearing all about her favorite books and authors. Then, we’ll have a few minutes to hear all about her latest projects, graphic novels, and news about the I Believe in a Thing Called Love movie — it’s a total win-win for us! Bring a pen and paper, you’ll want to write down all of Maurene’s recs.

About Maurene

Maurene Goo is the author of several acclaimed books for young adults. Her sophomore novel, I Believe in A Thing Called Love, about a socially awkward Korean American teen who decides to follow a K-Drama formula to get a boy to fall in love with her, has received the most critical acclaim of all her publications so far. It received starred reviews from Publishers Weekly and Kirkus Reviews, and landed on the best of 2017 and 2018 lists of CCBC, Seventeen, and Publishers Weekly. In February 2020 it was announced that a film adaptation written by Yulin Kuang is in development with A-Major Media, with Byung-hun Lee and Charles Pak as producers.

In February 2020 it was announced at C2E2 that Maurene would be writing a new on-going comic series for Marvel Comics, about the Korean-American superheroine Silk, illustrated by Canadian comic book artist Takeshi Miyazawa who’d previously illustrated other comics set in the Spider-Verse.

Maurene lives in LA with her husband, son, and cats.
